Standardization of Critical Illness definitions

15 Feb 2016 Announcements

Following a recent review, all insurers in Malaysia are required by Bank Negara Malaysia to adopt the standard definitions for critical illness.  The new definitions will apply to new and policies renewed on or after 1st April 2016.

The industry-wide use of standardized Critical Illness definitions is to :

  1. provide greater transparency for customers to easily compare the different plans available.
  2. reduce disparities in claims assessment arising from differences in interpretation.
  3. reflect advances in medical science and technology

We have revised the Critical Illness definitions in accordance to the Guidelines and are pleased to advise the adoption of the standardised definitions will not have any impact on your renewal premium.
