Special Notice: COVID-19 Coverage for Travel & Medical Insurance

Dear MSIG Policyholders,

With the announcement of the Movement Control Order, as directed by the Prime Minister's Office on 16 March 2020, we have made some adjustments to our travel & healthcare insurances.

For MSIG TravelRight Plus Insurance:

With effect from 23 January 2020, please take note that MSIG TravelRight Plus insurance does not cover any claims arising from the outbreak, which is deemed a "known" event.

However, if you purchased the travel insurance before 23 January 2020, coverage will only be extended to the following:

Before the Journey*:

• Coverage of Policy
• If you are infected with COVID-19 and it results in hospitalisation or death before you start your journey, the policy will cover for travel cancellation provided that the insurance was purchased no later than 7 days before your journey begins.

 During the Journey*:

• Coverage of Policy
• If you are infected with COVID-19 during a journey where the insurance was purchased before 23 January 2020, the policy will cover for:
  • medical expenses
  • emergency medical evacuation
  • travel curtailment
  • repatriation of mortal remains

• Travel insurances purchased after 23 January 2020 are not covered for claims in relation to COVID-19.

If your travel plan is impacted due to travel restriction, flight or tour cancellation, we will accommodate postponement, cancellation or extension of policy as follow:

For MSIG Healthcare Insurance:

With effect from 31 January 2020, MSIG will extend to cover treatment cost related to COVID-19 incurred in Malaysia for our medical and health insurance.

MSIG wishes to advise our policyholders to take precautionary measures & practice the highest standard of hygiene as advised by Ministry of Health Malaysia and World Health Organization.
