MSIG FlexiHealth – customizable and deductible health insurance plan

23 Jun 2011 Announcements

MSIG Malaysia, the second largest general insurance company in Malaysia and a market leader in medical insurance, has redefined its all-new healthcare plan – MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance – which empowers Malaysians to play a more pro-active role in their healthcare decisions and determine how best their insurance are covered.
Policyholders of the innovative MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance plan can enjoy premium savings through a “deductible” feature of the medical plan which enables a policyholder up to 50 per cent premium savings.
Under the deductible scheme, an insured person can choose to pay from RM2,500 to RM20,000 of the medical expenses (with MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance paying the balance up to the limit covered) and enjoy a premium rebate of 10 per cent to 50 per cent.
“The MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance is a truly flexible medical product and is a win-win proposition for the Malaysian consumers,” said MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd Chief Executive Officer Mr Chua Seck Guan at the launch of the MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance and the “Are U Insurance Smart?” campaign.
“It allows the consumers the flexibility to decide how much and what type of medical insurance they need,” he said, adding FlexiHealth would address the concerns of many Malaysians about the rising medical costs and their changing lifestyle.
Mr Chua also said the flexibility of the comprehensive insurance plan would appeal to many Malaysians who already have an existing medical plan as well as Malaysians who have no medical coverage yet.
Benefits of the MSIG FlexiHealth Insurance, which offers a lifetime limit of up to RM800,000, include:
  • Flexibility of choosing four protection plans, starting from as low as RM1.40 a day
  • Flexibility of choosing individual or family plan and enjoy a family discount
  • Flexibility of choosing optional and additional protection – critical and/or maternity benefits
  • Flexibility of payments – lump sum or installment scheme (six or 12-month credit card payment plan)
  • Alternative medical treatments, nutritional and compassionate care allowances including second surgical opinion
  • Long protection period – renewal up to age of 80
The insurance plan also includes cover for organ transplant (kidney, heart, lung, bone marrow, tissue or cell transplant), and outpatient treatments for cancer, kidney dialysis and stroke apart from hospital and related services benefits.
Mr Chua also unveiled the “Are U Insurance Smart?” campaign – a corporate social responsibility initiative MSIG Malaysia is embarking to educate Malaysians more about insurance.
The RM4 million campaign, spread over six months, will cover topical insurance subjects – home/fire, personal accident, travel, medical and motor – in several media platforms, including print, radio and television.
“As a market leader, it is important for MSIG to create a win-win proposition not only through new products and services, but also to listen to feedback from our policyholders and consumers regarding their understanding of insurance.
We realize there is a need to raise consumer awareness on the importance of insurance.
This is a good and worthy cause, and we certainly believe it will go a long way to help Malaysians to better understand and therefore better plan their general insurance protection,” said Mr Chua.
