MSIG Samurai Sudoku Showdown is back!

This year, the showdown returns with a total prize pool of RM138,000 cash for participants and RM57,000 for winning schools! As part of MSIG’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, student participants get a chance to win cash prizes for themselves as well as their schools - thereby encouraging schools to support the mentally stimulating activity for students in the classroom.
Not only are there a lot of prizes to be won, participants can choose from 4 exciting categories this year. The individual category is open to all 18 years old and above. The regional champion takes home RM1,000 cash, while the grand champion has the chance to win RM8,000 cash. Secondly, the student category is open to all students aged 7 to 17. In the grand showdown, students get the chance to take home a RM3,000 cash prize for themselves and RM3,000 cash for their schools. As such, students get the opportunity to showcase their mental wit and become the heroes of their schools by winning a cash prize for their school as well!
According to MSIG Chief Executive Officer Mr. Song Yam Lim, “This year, we have also decided to create more categories to appeal to a greater audience. We are encouraging the young and young at heart to practice and enhance their mental strength.” He also added, “For the family category in particular, we wish to encourage parents and their children to spend more quality time together especially with an activity that promotes well being, balance and mental alertness.”
This year, MSIG is also introducing the senior category open to all participants aged 55 years and above, due to feedback received last year from Senior Citizens. This year this category will give Seniors more time to complete the contest and to win a cash prize up to RM5,000. This is a way MSIG wishes to encourage the young at heart to enhance their mental strength.
Lastly, the family category is open to groups of 3 family members (for example, a father with his two children or grandparents with their child) interested in joining the Sudoku relay challenge. Families get the chance to win a total of RM9,000 in cash during the grand showdown. What’s more, all winners in the grand showdown will be given MSIG personal accident insurance.

Registration closes on 17 October 2008 and the regional showdown events kick-off on 02 November 2008. The schedule for the regional showdown venues is as follows:
