Please check with your MSIG Insurance Adviser if you are unsure. If your property is mortgaged to a Bank, please check with the Bank if you had arranged your property insurance through them.
Once your MSIG Insurance Adviser or Bank has been notified of the claim, MSIG can appoint an adjuster to survey the loss/ damage. Do extend your full cooperation to the adjuster so that a quick and accurate survey can be done.
Question 1.2 Whilst waiting for the adjuster – what can I do? Can I start cleaning?
Answer 1.2 Yes, you can. However, please take clear photographs of the scene before cleaning and put any damaged items to one side if you have contents cover.
Note: For claims other than this incident - MSIG standard procedures will continue to apply.
Question 1.3 If the building is intact, what can I claim for?
Answer 1.3 This would be determined on a case-by-case basis, but generally you can claim for:
-
- Costs of Cleaning/ Washing the Building
- Repainting of Walls
- Repair and Replacement of Electrical Points
Question 1.4 What about my building contents?
Answer 1.4 You must have Householder Cover – see chart under 1.1 above
PART 2 – Claims Process
Due to the large spread of this unfortunate flood incident, MSIG is simplifying the claim process for Homeowners. However, this simplified procedure may not be applicable to all claims, e.g. if the claim requires further verification.
Question 2.1 Why only Home and not Commercial?
Answer 2.1 Claims for Home insurance tend to be simpler compared to Commercial property claims (e.g. size of the claim/ machinery/ stock/ different trades…etc).
