Definition

Persons With Disabilities (PWD) / Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU):

  • Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 defined persons with disabilities as those who have long term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society.
  • There are 7 types of Disabilities; Learning, Mental, Physical, Multiple Disabilities, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, & Speech Impairment. 

Facts of life

Estimated over 4 million* Malaysians are living with disabilities. Needless to say this impacts their immediate family members too who cares & supports them.

 

People with disabilities and their family members have the same hopes and aspirations as all of us. But for them it is harder to perhaps to do many things we take for granted; even to the larger context of securing a job, having a bank account, buying the car and even buying insurance.

 

Insurance is an important financial tool and MSIG recognizes this and believes we have a societal role to support those with Disabilities by extending basic insurance products.

Our first step is to extend 6 of our existing products** to PWDs (excluding those with Mental Disabilities and/or Multiple Disabilities).

The products are:

  1. ABC Personal Accident - Plan 1 or Plan 2
  2. Individual Personal Accident – Plan 1
  3. Bodyguard Personal Accident – Silver Plan
  4. Individual Healthcare International – Executive Plan
  5. Insurance for Private Motor Car - Comprehensive Cover
  6. Mini Personal Accident - All Plans
