Q1.Who am I insured with now?
A. You are insured with MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. (formerly known as Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd.). Our MSIG logo/brand name remains the same. Please call us MSIG for short.
Q2.Why did the company change the name?
A. The new name will reflect our commitment to using MSIG as our brand, to represent our strength and excellence globally.
Q3.What does MSIG stand for?
A. MSIG stands for “Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group”. Our Group’s aspiration is to be the world’s No. 1 International Insurance Group and this brand name reflects the Group’s current network in over 40 countries and 24,000 employees worldwide.
Q4.How will this name change affect me as a policyholder?
A. The name change will not affect the interests of policyholders, which will continue to be safeguarded. You will still be insured with the same company – one of the leading general insurer in Malaysia – which has a new name that better reflects our MSIG brand.
Q5.Will there be a need to make any changes to existing policies?
A. No. Please be assured that the name change does not affect existing policies. It will not cause any variation in the period of insurance or the extent of coverage and protection you have under your existing policy.
Q6.Will there be a change in the personnel servicing my account?
A. No, the same personnel will continue to service your account and we are committed to maintain our excellent service so that the interests of policyholders are always safeguarded.
Q7.If I wish to write a cheque to pay for my insurance policies, which party should it be made payable to?
A. Kindly cross your cheque and make it payable to “MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd.”. However, if you have already made payments to “Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd.”, it will still be accepted.
Q8.Are your office premises still at the same places?
A. Yes, we are still operating at the same office premises, just under a new company name.
Q9.What about my existing claims which are unsettled at this point?
A. No impact. All terms and conditions under your insurance policies will continue to take effect. We are committed to prompt and fair settlement of claims.
Q10.I recently received a claim/refund cheque issued by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. Is it still valid?
A. Yes, it is still valid and as per the usual validity period of any cheque, please bank in the cheque within 6 months from the date stated on the cheque.
Q11.Are the services like Motor Assistance/panel workshops and other programmes that I currently enjoy still valid?
A. There are no changes to any of our Assistance Programmes and all services will continue. Please be rest assured that we are committed to provide excellent service all the time. However, should there be any changes made to any of the services/panels as part of our product/service review, we will advise our policyholders accordingly.
Q12.I have just renewed my car insurance and have yet to visit JPJ/Post Office to do my road tax renewal. Is the e-cover note sent under the name of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. still valid?
A. We have notified JPJ of our name change. JPJ has acknowledged our notification. Therefore, the e-cover note sent under the name of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. is very much valid.
