19th April 2009, ChoShan Island China.
Madam Wong, aged 69, sustained a fall whilst on a tour in ChoShan Island. She sustained a fracture femur and was warded at the local hospital at ChoShan. Her tour leader immediately contacted ISOS, our MSIG Assist for assistance. Due to the limited medical facility at this hospital coupled with the patient's fragility, it was decided to evacuate her back to Malaysia for treatment before her conditions deteriorated.
Air ambulance was arranged, and with a medical escort team, Madam Wong was brought back to Malaysia just 3 days after the accident. Upon arrival at the airport, an ambulance awaited, and transported her to the University Malaya Specialist Centre where she was operated upon, and discharged three days thereafter.
Madam Wong is now on the road to recovery.
